ArrayThe second day of FIA WTCC testing at Valencia was enlivened by the unexpected appearance of Portuguese Formula One driver Tiago Monteiro, who accepted the invitation of SEAT Sport to test their León car.
The idea came from Paulo Ferreira (co-promoter of the WTCC meeting in Porto) and Jaime Puig (SEAT Sport director).
"As a professional driver, said Monteiro I am always interested in trying new cars and different factory teams.
It was a new experience for me, but I heard a lot of good things about the car and the championship, and because I don't have any contractual restrictions I thought it was the good timing to accept this invitation.
I was very impressed by the León; I didn't think that a touring car could be so reactive and fast. It was quite exciting."
The second day also saw Félix Porteiro taking over the BMW Team Italy-Spain car. The young Spaniard completed 350 km around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
The only other change from yesterday's line up was Jordi Gené replacing Michel Jourdain at SEAT Sport alongside Gabriele Tarquini.
