At this point, Daniel, I advice you to make a clean install. Backup your UserData folder and the logs and replays you want, delete everything else.
So, make a clean install. If you want to use both versions, then before updating to 1255, open the game and activate it, and when you're sure teh activation is ok, backup your Trymedia folder. This folder is somewhere inside C:\Documents and Settings . Also backup rFactor.exe, rFactor Dedicated.exe and Plugins\NetCommPlugin.dll . You should create a folder called "1250" so that you know at any time what version those files correspond to.
You have backed 1250's files up. So then upgrade to 1255. After that, activate the game again. The game will automatically remove your older license files and create new ones. Repeat the backup process but this time put the files in a folder called "1255". Same files: rFactor.exe, rFactor Dedicated.exe and Plugins\NetCommPlugin.dll, and the Trymedia folder.
Now, any time you want to change game version, just restore the appropiate backup, replacing files and Trymedia folder. If you know something about scripting you can make yourself a couple of batch files to do the version swap process simple.
